Our software consists of an extensive database that guides participants in the process of developing an Individual Education Plan. From among the 2572 comments in the software, teachers can make choices that match their student’s specific needs and thus foster their academic progress.
This tool is ideal for education professionals who are looking for a solutions-based approach and who see the IEP as an ongoing process of support for their students.
The statements were developed by Vanguard staff. They are based on practices proven to work with our elementary and high school students.
This tool was designed by an accomplished team who spent a few years analyzing and carefully selecting all its contents. This multidisciplinary team was comprised of special needs teachers, resource specialists, a speech and language therapist and a school principal.
This tool has been part of our practices at all levels for two years now,
Our data base was made for children with specific learning differences or with significant learning disabilities.
It is thus recommended for children with language related disabilities that affect reading, writing or oral expression (dyslexia, dysorthographia, auditory processing disorder, dysphasia) or with difficulties in math (dyscalculia, non-verbal learning disability).
It also equips parents to describe other important difficulties, such as attention deficit (with or without hyperactivity), executives functioning difficulties and certain affective issues (ex.: anxiety, low self-esteem…).
In summary, our data base addresses the majority of students who are not able to progress or to achieve the objectives of the Quebec Education Program.
The main distinction is found in the quality and the variety of the proposed statements. The expertise developed by our staff enables us to offer a data base of precise comments adapted to the student’s situation (severity of problem, associated disorders, academic levels).In fact, the objectives and means that we propose are graduated to personalize the student’s plan of action. We also offer training in the use of the program. Our software serves to equip teachers, to provide avenues for reflection and to help rather than replace teachers.
Two versions are available to users: One version for organizations and a second for individual users on the WEB. Both versions have the same content and offer similar functions for developing Individual Education Plans. The version for organizations allows for more interaction among users.
The main purpose of this software is to simplify implementation of the Individual Education Plan by offering time-saving features.
Our electronic Individual Education Plan is:
- A virtual library that helps teachers describe the profiles and strategies (objectives and means) appropriate to each student;
- A powerful tool for promoting collaboration among IEP team members by providing quick access from any location (even from home);
- Quick access to a history of the student’s previous IEPs which facilitates data collection and provides a review of practices that worked well for the student.
Short WEB clips have been created to facilitate use of the data base. These practical guides can be found on our current site as well as on YouTube.
